Mini mogul Brett Burch is a 9-year-old businessman in the making. He is the CEO of his own online boutique called Brett’s Trove.  Brett got the idea  to start the company back in 2011 when he started to bring home tons of artwork from school.  His family began putting the artwork in every corner of the house. There was art on the refrigerator and his bedroom wall. Some was framed and other pieces were stuffed into drawers.
With the help of his family, Brett decided to use an online site to feature his art. Brett put his original artwork on t-shirts, buttons, posters, mugs, doggie shirts, and ties, which are his best-selling item.  Brett plans to use the money from Brett’s Trove sales to save for his college fund.  He also will donate a portion of the Brett’s Trove proceeds to the Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Scholarship which provides selected DC students with a full scholarship to attend the George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Brett’s Trove ties have been featured in the KidsPost section of the Washington Post, the Washington InformerDC SpotlightDC on Heels and other publications. Brett’s Trove made its DC Fashion Week debut last fall at the 2013 Fashion Industry Networking Party.
Mr. Ean Williams, the executive director of DC Fashion Week said that out of 19 DC Fashion Weeks, Brett is the youngest vendor/designer to participate in DC Fashion Week. The Brett’s Trove designer tie collection was also featured in the 2013 annual H Street Festival Fashion Show in Washington DC.
Brett’s Trove has expanded onto the social media scene with Brett’s Trove Facebook which includes information about the Brett’s Trove business and also posts family- friendly event and kid contest information.
